  • In August 2006 Professor Alfred Noël  is scheduled to speak at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Madrid, Spain. His talk is entitled "Prehomogeneous spaces associated to graded Lie algebras their relative invariants."
  • In June 2006, Professor Catalin Zara  participated in the International Conference on Toric Topology organized at the Osaka City University (Japan), where he gave a talk entitled "Hamiltonian GKM spaces and their moment graphs."
  • In May 2006, Professor Steven Jackson  participated in the Fourth International Workshop on Computer Algebra Systems and Applications organized at the University of Reading (UK), where he gave a talk entitled "Polarizable theta-stable parabolic subalgebras and $\Kc$-saturation in the non-compact real forms of $G_2$ and $F_4$."

  • In October 2005 Professors John Lutts and Mark Pawlak gave a presentation at Connecticut College in New London on how UMB assesses student achievement and faculty success in teaching our QR 114 course. It was part of an all day conference for the NEEAN/NEASC Fall Forum 2005 Assessment Conference.
  • In August 2005 Professor Karen Ricciardi attended the IASTED International Conference on Modeling, Simulation, and Optimization where she presented the paper "The Impact of Regional Geologic Variation on Robust Groundwater Remediation Design."
