This is a continuation of Math 140. Topics include transcendental functions, techniques of integration, applications of the integral, improper integrals, L'Hospital's rule, sequences, and series. Please note: Because Math 141 is the second part of the integrated calculus sequence, it should be taken as soon as possible after Math 140 which is a prerequisite.

Material to be covered:

5.3, 6.6, 6.8, 7.1-7.4, 7.8, 8.1, 9.3, 10.1-10.4, Appendix H Complex Numbers, 11.1-11.10

Practice problems and exercises will be assigned at the end of each lecture. The student is expected to read the appropriate sections and to do all assigned exercises. The student will find this course very difficult if he or she neglects the homework assignments.

Exams:

There will be four exams, all in class:  7/23, 8/6, 8/13, 8/20

Grading Procedure:

Each exam is worth 25% of your final grade. THERE WILL BE NO MAKEUP EXAMS.

Academic Honesty: The University of Massachusetts academic honesty policy is in effect. In particular, always be sure to give proper attribution for work or ideas that are not your own.
