Math Q114 Portfolio Requirement
Over
the course of the semester you will be asked to compile a portfolio of work
that you have produced in this class. The portfolio will be a record of what
you have done in different aspects of this course and of the mathematical and
quantitative reasoning skills you have mastered. The
portfolio will be due on the day of the final exam and will be worth 5
points out of the 100 points on the final. The following items wil be required
to make up your portfolio:

an automathography
◦
fast facts assignment
◦
one graded homework assignment of your choosing
◦
three examples of your written work
1. A 60-second summary analysing a graph
or data from a recent newspaper or magazine article
2. The 60-second summary from your
Extended Exploration (FAM 1000)
3.
Write-up of your a group presentation (Exploration 2.1)

an end-of-semester written reflection
This
assignment is an opportunity to look back over the range of materials you have
produced during this course and to take note of the things you have
learned. Write a one page reflection. Some questions to consider in your
reflection are:
¥ What have you learned
in this class about statistics and algebra, about data, and about technology
(Excel and computers in general)?
¥ What topics or concepts
did you struggle with? Are there some you feel you haven't understood? If so,
which ones?
¥ Has your attitude about
mathematics and its usefulness changed?
¥ Have you learned things that you think will be useful in
your life, in your future studies, or in your job or future career?
