11:00am - 12:00pm, in McCormack 2-419 Jie ZhouPerimeter Institute, CanadaModular forms in the Gromov-Witten theory of Calabi-Yau varieties
Abstract:
Calabi-Yau varieties are higher dimensional analogues of elliptic
curves. They enjoy very rich geometric, as well as arithmetic
Properties. In this talk, I will first review the notions of Calabi-Yau manifold
and Gromov-Witten invariant, and some background on mirror symmetry.
Then I will explain how to prove the modularity of the generating
series of Gromov-Witten invariants for some particular examples,
by combining techniques from modular forms and from mirror symmetry.
