UMass BostonRock Fracture Flow Simulation
Abstract:
Low rock fracture aperture impedes flow. The digitized ( ~ 3.9% zeros) aperture measurement matrix of each of five 12cm x 8cm rock blocks is thoroughly traversed using an algorithm (stopped by zero configurations) having ~ 30% - 60% through-flow depending on the block. Fracture roughness is negatively correlated with fracture through-flow ( r ~ - 0.893 ).
