Embedding Singular Poisson Varieties

Abstract: Poisson varieties arise as models for mechanical systems with symmetry. In this talk, I will introduce Poisson Manifolds/Varieties and discuss an easy-to-state embedding problem for Poisson varieties. I'll outline the problem of extending such a Poisson structure to an ambient affine space and provide evidence of a surprising rigidity displayed by these spaces.
